tanks..tanks tanks sheesh!

So, I wanna start slowly start assembling a new tank for a second betta. Maybe if I do it very slowly my mom won't notice. Lol.
So where do you guys get good tanks? I've been looking at tank kits. Walmart online has a good one. I want a 5 gallon. Unless anyone has one sitting around I can take it off their hands! =)

Also, what's the benefits of live plants? I wanna start looking into them too!
How many tanks do you guys have and what's the average size?

live plants help remove ammonia from the water. ammonia i a chemical that fish excrete and we remove this with waterchanges and live plants. if it builds up it is very harmful for our fish. i have 17 fish. i cant add more tanks without it being noticeable.

I just realized there's a 10 gallon kit with light, filter, heater, etc at petco on sale for like $38 and it has a $5 mail in rebate coupon on it too. tomorrow is the last day, I may just have to get one >_>

Hey Tisia, that's the tank I just got! It looks pretty nifty, but I haven't set it up yet. Also, the heater is not one of the ones that was recently recalled so no worries there. The light is fluorescent.

I ended up giving in too, lol
had a 10% off coupon for recently joining petco pals as well, and apparently it worked with the deal, ended up a little under $40 after tax, so about $35 after I do the mail in, seeing as it's like $30 in store just for one of the heaters, figure it was a pretty amazing deal, lol

Woot, congrats on the great deal.

I had a $25 petco gift card and the petco pals card so for me it was only $10 after the mail in rebate.

I chose 1 betta and tank mates. This gives me the most room to be creative with the decorations. I plan to do a "floating island" (suction cups) with a castle connected to a big mountain (drift wood) by a bridge in the middle of the tank. I'll plant java moss to hide the suction cups and such.
