Saw a female betta today.....

So pretty, I wanted her but no room (even though i do have a tank I could put her in) and my landlord would prolly have a hissy fit if he knew I had 3 tanks I currently have haha, considering when I asked about a 5 gallon, he was like just have something small..So I have two 2.5 gallons and a 2 gallon. Grar!

Your landlord is lamesauce.
I love how mine doesn't care what you do as long as you pay your rent.
I have a 20 long, 2 10 gallons, a 5.5 and a few 2-3 gallon tanks, when I asked him if fish were ok he said as long as they didn't make noise.

In this case I think a landlord gets a bad rap. He is afraid of water damage should a tank break or develop a leak. He is just looking to protect his investment (his real estate). Once you guys grow up and BUY your own place, you can have as many tanks and gallons as you want. :)

You assume that we're not 'grown up' and that we'd choose to own a house over renting, which certainly has it's perks comparatively. I'm an apartment dweller/renter by choice. Not everyone has to 'own' their home to be satisfied or a responsible grown up adult.

I can see where the landlord is coming from though after dealing with a leaky 72 gallon this weekend. Can we say nightmare?!

I think it's just respectful. A tank can be WAY more damaging than a dog... I can't have a 55G in my apartment because we're above another apartment. If that thing broke/leaked, it would go to the floor below us maybe weaken the flooring enough for the 55 to collapse through. NOT GOOD NEWS.

Stick with small little tanks and be thankful he said yes to it! My friend's landlord won't let her have HAMSTERS.

Julep- HMPK Male 2.5 Gal.

Yeah, the guy I was renting from was okay with my tanks as long as I kept them away from the floor and made sure they didn't leak or anything.

He didn't allow for any furry animals, which I think is understandable. I'm just happy I got to bring my bettas along. :)
