So I bit the bullet and bought a fish off Aquabid. Problem is, the fish I got doesn't look so much like the fish I bid on. I know a betta's color can fade during shipping, but please tell me what you think:
I wonder if there was some 'tinkering' done on the first photo to make the colours appear brighter than they actually are. Otherwise, it is difficult to tell. The fins do seem similar as mentioned above, but I wouldn't say for sure either way without a photo of your fish coloured up and in full flare.
The website pics look like they may have those special lights that enhance the colors of the fish. I think after he gets settled and geta his color back under lighting he will look the same.
Thanks for your thoughts! The fish isn't doing well so I don't know if I will get to see him colored up. I posted about him in the disease forum. If you have any thoughts on what might be wrong, I would appreciate them. Part of his fin fell off.
I think they are the same fish but I think the photo lighting was doctored up, as someone else here suggested. The fish on Aquabid had a lot of yellow on it. The fish I got is more of a burnt orange color. He is still a nice looking fish, but I was looking for a yellow one. Lesson learned about buying fish online.
I agree the picture is a bit different. They may have used alot flash or had a lot of bright white lighting above the tank when taking the picture. Either way he is still a beautiful boy.
I've gotten 2 x factor Fish accidentally on line, I've also had one say hm and be a feather tail but I've gotten some stunning ones as well like my EE pair and several fish from users here. Don't completely give up on online purchases because it's exciting and rather fun to unbox them ^^
