Some questions on Dals

So me and my sister were talking about our bettas, and it came to our attention.

My Sapphire has darker blue spots on her blue fins.

Does this make her a dal?
Are there female dals?
How rare are dals?
Can you breed dals? What would the outcome be?

Just some questions I've been wondering (I don't plan on breeding.)
, just saying

it depends on the spots. if they're just on her fins, she may be. :d

yes, there are female dals. but, they're not seen that often in pet stores. i'm not 100% sure why, though. i'm always on the hunt for a few. lol

dals aren't TOO rare, but they're not bred alot. they're most often seen as Veiltails, in pet stores, but you can sometimes find them on Aquabid in Halfmoon and Halfmoon Plakat form.

you can breed dals, but it's hard to pass on the spots. :d you'd have to breed with a betta who has NO red in them at all, or you may end up with red cambodians, who don't show the spots at all. breeding orange to orange will eventually lead to a peach or salmon colored betta, so you'd need to find a way to improve the orange, if you want orange dal. there are black dals, and blue dals(bettas with black spots, and blue spots), but orange is the most well-known, and my personal favorite. :3

if you are seeing small dark blue spots on her blue fins only towards the back of her dorsal, base of fins, etc then that is just a normal marking that has carried over from wild bettas. It's pretty, almost like leopard marks, but that doesn't qualify them as dals.

Dal means Dalmation. Like the dog betta's can have dalmation spots too.

What sucks though is my stupid walmart is always carrying orange butterflies orange dals and I have no room to save any of them! AUUUGH! Akira's getting upgraded but that old tank may be turned into a tank for emergancy use (I hope a new betta is an emergancy.) or as a spare.
