mellow betta?

just curious,

my new guy hoshi is very calm. he seems healthy and normal, and wiggles around a lot when he sees me, but when nothing is going on, he kind of just swims really slowly and calmly arounds his tank, or hangs out in his plant.

the bettas i've had in the past seemed much more active than he is.

what do you think? probably just a different personality?

thank you!

I just bought a little female today, and she does the same thing. She's healthy, but she doesn't swim around much except when I put my finger in front of the tank.

And my other betta (who passed today) was always really energetic all the time. :P

I think it's normal!

I am pretty sure that it's normal. I tend to look for the calm bettas to put in my community tanks, they get along very well!

Bettas have their own personalities just like us! Thats a reason we love thŔm so much :3

Sakura is a calm happy baby girl, Izume is very active and talkitive when he sees me ( opens and closes his mouth like 1000x ) Kasumi is hyper as hell- jumpin outta the water and nippin my finger during feeding, and Ryu is flashy and showy but loves to nap on his thermometer.

Ryu Japan Kyoshi Shiro Izume
Kasumi
Amaya Kimiyo
Okami Aimi

To my passed children who swam to the big sea in the sky, I love and miss all of you. Thank you for everything. You will be remembered forever.

lol.... just picturing all of these bettas chillin' out

"Yo, master. W'sup?".... they say, lounging in the gravel as we come over to check on them.

I prefer caretaker. Master sounds to derogatory. (if that's the right word?)

I agree, Neil... I was thinking ÷wner", "person", "food source", lol.... but they all sounded really dorky! I should have left it blank and let everyone fill in their own word. :)

Definitely wasn't to be derogatory, but I believe that word could definitely be taken that way if I would have spelled it differently, .... ie- instead of writing "what's up" I put "w'sup" to make it sound different when said. So, ... anyway... catching myself gas-bagging again. I'll stop now. :)

It's all in the personalities. Akira's chill except he's very territorial. He flares and wiggles whenever he see's Kai from accross the couch and I know if I ever got him a ten gallon he'd have to be seperated from anything else or left alone to himself lest he behead everyone. "I SHALL RULE THE WORLD!" Kai is my curious little baby...He may or may not go insane. He hates seeing other betta's but never flares at Akira..
