I wouldn't keep the fish in the car. If its 88 outside it can easily go over 100 in the car. Why would you take a chance. I lost a pair of snakes once just driving home with them and the windows were down. It was a hot outside I had the snakes in a cooler and they still cooked. I f I was running the air conditioning it would have been fine.

So I went to 2 PetCo's, I decided to go after the show rather than before. Neither of them carried HM females or SD/DT females. So I left without females, but I did purchase a HMPK Koi Male, it was in the best condition, his fins weren't clamped, very active and his water was the cleanest. I was surprised both PetCo's seemed to be taking great care of their fish.
