I might just add a couple of things:

Make any changes to your bettas slowly, one at a time. Watch for any signs of distress. These fish have been used to living one way, for a long time. We don't want them to go into stress shock. And you want to be able to isolate which change is causing stress, should it occur.

Clay pots are great betta caves, but be sure to plug up the drainage hole in the bottom of the pot. Bettas are very smart, curious fish and will stick their heads in the drainage holes. We've had several forum members lose their bettas due to drainage hole injuries.

Even my monster betta girl Baby Blue just had to stick her head in the drainage hole of her terra cotta pot! She survived; but she was extremely lucky. Such injuries crush the brain/spinal cord of the fish. Bad news.

****************

Again, sorry for the 'tude... You were so well spoken, I never would have guessed you were a young'n. Now it all makes sense.

Welcome to the forum... we'll try to help you learn to about bettas and to have happy, healthy fish. :)
