It is not uncommon for young males to have an egg spot and show breeding stripes. Look on the forum, people all over have experienced it. As well, many males on here never flare once or only half-way. Maybe he is still very young and hasn't gained his 'manliness' yet?

I really think you should watch him...

Ok I think your best bet is watch hir and see if s/he starts dropping eggs. Maybe condition hir and see if s/he fills up with eggs and releases them??

I'm definitely still keeping a very close eye on the situation. If she does turn out to be a he, I'll just have to get another divider and make room in one of the 10 gallons for him. Or find another home, which I really don't want to do.

For now at least, s/he peacefully gets along with everyone else.

I've had her/him/it for going on two months and I got her/him at petco at the same time I got my other girl, Laruto. Laruto has always been smaller and she's stayed petite like a female.
