*sigh* New betta is gonna be cold tonight. 8|

So today I was at petsmart, to get my cat a checkup at the vet there. Anyway, I sey they have dragon bettas in-- and I find a guy I just HAVE to bring home. I have a 2.5 gallon tank, but no heater. Big woop, I figure-- and I nab a Marina C10, and the fish, and go on my merry way. Can it really be that easy? OF COURSE NOT. The stupid thing has been in my tank for half an hour. I let it adjust before I plugged it in. I though maybe I already put in warm enough water. The damn thing just isn't turning on. *sigh* I'm so ticked. Petsmart is like 45 mins away from me. Gawd. I prolly can't go back tonight.

Wonder if you could keep the tank in the bathroom for a while?

He will be fine without a heater! Some of my bettas dont even have heaters, as long as it doesnt get too cold under 70, then your ok. I know its not ideal but hes not gonna die without the heater.

Yeah, I know he'd have been alright. It's just... paying $15 for a heater and then getting home and finding out it won't even turn on. I got my mom to drive me back, and returned it. Then I got a Marinland 10 Watt. Couple extra bucks, but hey. At least I know I can trust this one.

You might want to double check it. I just got one of those as well and put it in. I had to close the blinds and the door to verify that the light was on because it is SO DIM. I'm also testing mine right now to see if it actually heats a gallon of water or not (even though I have a 2.5 gallon)

I'd bought an of-brand before, and aside form being a little ugly, it worked really well (and several months later is still working) so I figured that this would be fine. Nope. this Stealth Pro 10 Watt is preset, but at least I feel pretty confident that it'll actually, you know.... Work. When I plug it in. >>

Actually...Marineland has just done a huge recall on the stealth pros (I returned my 50w today and bought the Marina 10w with some of the money I got back). It doesn't include the 10w because it's not an actual stealth like you just posted in your last reply but you should still monitor it for some time. I've heard that some users have had problems with it overheating.

Yeah I saw the list before. I've got a stealth for my 10 gallon, but it wasn't on the recall list. I also didn't think I saw 10 watt ones listed either? idk, someone here had posted the recall list-- and now I can't find it on google.
