Swimbladder issues are easy to fix most of the time. If you do end up getting him, get him in some clean, warm(78-82*F) water and premix 1 tsp/gal of epsom salt. You have to do 100% changes everyday so keeping him in a smaller container would make it easier. Fast him while he's on the epsom salt for the first day and then offer him food on the second day. That gives the epsom salt enough time to push out whatever is causing the issue with the swimbladder.

You may want to pick up a parasite medication, I suggest Jungle brand, just in case it turns out he has internal parasites.

The most expensive thing would be the parasite medication. Epsom salt is very cheap and can be found in most grocery stores.

Good luck! Clean and warm water can do wonders for him. If you don't mention that he's sick and he doesn't make it within their warranty day, you can take the body back and get a different fish. Sounds like a heartless way of looking at the situation, though, doesn't it. :/

Well, she said no :( Maybe try dad later XP I really don't want another fish, I just wanted to try and save him, since he's the only one that actually looks like a halfmoon. I am pretty sure the "Halfmoon" I bought last night is a butterfly Delta

Has your new guy unclamped? Maybe when he settles in and flares out he'll be a halfmoon after all.

I hope so. He seems pretty relaxed, if a bit hyper

Does he look on the younger side? If he does, he may grow more tail, too.

He looks like he might be just slightly under halfmoon if he flares. He's very handsome.
