Halfmoon's fins after shipping...?

Hey everybody. I decided while my last betta was sick that if I can't find a pretty betta at a LFS, I'm going to go to Aquabid. I've now got a hole in my heart to fill and have fallen in LOVE LOVE LOVE with the guy pictured and linked below:
http://www.aquabid.com/cgi-bin/auction/auction.cgi?fwbettashm&1311300388

My problem is that I really don't want him to have torn fins if/when I get him. I love his dorsal fin and think that it would be a shame if he had rips and tears all over him...

Do betta often get their fins ripped and shredded during the shipping from Thailand?

(also, on a somewhat related note, has anyone bought from Bettaakapes before? What was the quality of the fish when received?)

Shipping Bettas is a crapshoot. Sometimes they arrive in perfect condition and sometimes they arrive looking like they went through a blender. More often than not though they arrive fine.

Most likely if he arrived with a little fin damage it will heal fine after a few weeks of TLC.

even if he tears his fins to shreds and looks like he fought the mower, it'll heal up just fine after some TLC. i've always been told, and firmly believe, that Indian Almond Leaves helps their fins grow back a little faster.
