Talking getting a 55g... free!!!

So, my friend's husband is giving me a 55g tank on a cabinet for free!

The big question is... what the heck am I gonna do with it? Sorority? Divided Tank? Planted? I don't want any other kind of fish besides bettas because they are the only ones that I know how to take care of... LOL! Any ideas?

my children
Harrison 10, Jackson 10, Abigail 10 & Caroline 7
my other children
Nina & Levi - the labradoodles
Frenchie - the kitty
Daisy, Tulip, Lily, Iris & Forget Me Not - the bettas

my children's children
Wyatt & Doc - the guinea pigs
Misty & Nori (females), Bubbles & Sugar (males) - the bettas
Andy, Spice, Minty & Serafina - the snails
Kenny I, II, III & IV - the mossballs

Personally, you could have a sorority or very large divided spaces for a few boys. 55gs are more narrow than some tanks (13in wide) but they are 48in long (HUGE). Congrats though! I got my 45g for free, which is 1in smaller width wise and 3in shorter height.

Ummmmmmm...... Well you could devide maybe 15 or twenty gallons for a sorority, then devide the rest for some of your other bettas.

Free tanks are always nice. What do you want to do with the tank? I'd probably use it as another growout tank.

if you decide to divide, make sure you cut exactly. it's more of a challenge to divide because it's so deep, i have 2 boys that got at each other through a gap in the dividers (homemade)

I think its OFL..but she was talking about have some less aggressive males in tanks together that shes bred herself from like the least aggressive of a spawn for a not so aggressive male im pretty sure I read that shes on the 10th generation ( or tenth year ) of breeding the aggressiveness out buy breeding the least agressive males from the spawn..if you think about it then it makes sence if they grow up together with less agressive brothers then it could work

slightly obcessed with bettas
