My boy doesn't flare at the food, when he's hungry (when isn't he?) he will attack the pellet or feeding spoon.
Unless you're late with food, in that case he's grumpy about being woken up and pretends not to see/smell/feel food as it floats by his head and even bumps him!

No, but he flared at the new plants, and then I moved him next to Tihs and now hes obsessed with flaring at her (I blocked his view but he is still obsessed with that side of the tank)

Lol, my male betta Pickle does that... though I thinkhe does it more than to annoy me, everytime I feed him he completely ignores the pellet and just stares at me, I have to tap the water to get his attention to the pellet (he maybe blonde)
