Filter Cartrage Question..

I feel like my filter is causing to much current for my Bettas I tried the Baffle Idea but my filter is small and it wouldnt work. So I was wondering we have filter cartrages for our other fishtank and i got the idea to use one to slow the water down on my filter. My question is If i do this will My filter still be able to run Right? I was just going to cut it and stick it in there. I dont know if it will work though.

That might not end up slowing down the flow enough, but you can try it to see. What filter do you have, and how did you try baffling it the first time?

This is how I baffled mine, and it works really well:

The sponge is cut from a bigger filter sponge for an Aquaclear filter (like these: http://www.petsmart.com/product/inde...ductId=2754144), and it's just held on the filter with a rubber band. The water comes out of the filter and then trickles down through the sponge. As long as you make sure the bottom part of the sponge is touching the water, then there will hardly be any current to bother your fish.

Is it like this....
http://www.walmart.com/ip/Regent-For...-1-ct/10313136

If so-cram some poly-fill in behind the filter media and it will slow it down...I buy bags of poly-fill in the craft dept at walmart-its what I use to make my own filter media-but works great to slow the water flow without causing problems for the filter itself and its not as unsightly as the foam used in front of the overflow...although that method works great too.....
