Is there any way to determine a betta's approximate age?

No, not that I know of. However, in the pet stores they are usually from 1-2 years old.

Well, recently I've seen Petsmart selling them waaayyy younger- like 3-6 months old. Once they get 2" they are usually around a year old.

Just because I don't type with candy and rainbows doesn't mean I'm being mean.

My betta is from Walmart. He's pretty tiny. =/ Normal pellets are too big for him, and sometimes even the granules have to be halved for him to be able to eat them.. Is the two inches including the tail, or is it just the body length?

Just the body length. Tails differ between each betta. :)
If normal pellets are too big, I'd say he's under 6 months.

My betta is probably about 1.25 inches. =] He's so cute and tiny. <3 And he's grown some from when I first bought him.

Awww. Yeah walmart is known for underfeeding. D:
Glad he's fattening up! ^^

When I first got him, if you looked at him from above, you could barely see him. xD He was sooo thin. I hope I'm not making him obese. xD I'd say he's about.... Five months? I was thinking between six months and a year.. But he's awfully small, and "tiny betta pellets" are even too big for the poor little guy. :( He has nice fins, though..
