Are the females spunky, too?

It's been years since I had bettas, and I don't remember my females' personalities very well. I do remember how much I loved my favorite male, though. I miss having a fish with such personality.

Just wonSo I'm jering if the females tend to have as much personality as the males, or what they are like in general, as I've fallen in love with a gorgeous girl on Aquabid.

Thanks!

i have had a male AND a female, and in my opinion, the females are funnier, spunkier, and respond to you more. They also seem less skittish.

Dogs: Rufus
R.J.
Neige
Cats: Tabby
Beauty
Fish: Fishy

Thanks for the responses! I definitely want a female now, but I am also seriously considering breeding... I just haven't done enough research to be ready for that yet.

I want them as companions first and foremost.

To me the guys are fun but they are mostly feed me and leave lol. In my expirience thats how its seemed any way. The girls though, they are so much fun! I have a female who attacks everything that is being put into her tank. Plants, food, my finger even! Then I have a female who always comes up to see me, she's an attention lover. They are real treats :) i love them. lol

4 Female bettas
Niblet, Melody, Valoo, Sephany
2 Male bettas
Head Trauma, Kyuubi
3 Cats
Buster, Tobias, Sinister
1 Goldfish
Phantom of the tank fish
2 ADF
Lisa Lopez, Frogger
2 Plecos
1 Hamster
Aviator

There's a reason quite a few of us put up with the hassles of sorority keeping. The girls become a tank of little playground critters, they teach each other how to behave and become variations on a theme.

They do actually try harder than the males, most girls will sit sideways in a current to bring their fin around and wave at you whereas the boys will just flare or twitch.

I think part of it is the girls are allowed to stay together longer, the males have to be removed quickly but the girls can stay and play at the breeder.

Beware tho, sororities can become like figurine collections, you end up wanting all the colors, all the patterns and even the special one with the too-long light saber and the odd pants.

The trick to keeping girls is to stimulate them a lot, right from the moment you bring them home. I choose girls from the shelf based on personality.

I got her!

I can't wait for my girl to come home. I would like to find a good male to breed her with, but I need to learn a lot more first. My favorites are the red halfmoon males, but I read that you should only breed red to red since it's so dominant. It'd basically just destroy the genetics of this girl's beauty.
