Power outtage

Well last night my power went out....it still is. So now my fish are in my bathroom, in the bathtub wrapped up in towels and with hot hand packs to keep them warm as we have no heat. Which brings me to my question, what do you do for your fish during a power outtage?

Good job caring for them.
Never had one while keeping bettas but generally they should do fine unless your house is freezing. They will be lethargic during the outtage but they will be ok.

I've thought about this too, since our power usually goes out atleast once each winter. I've decided that if it happens again I'll immediately wrap their tanks in blankets and stuff, and if it goes on for hours that i'll cup them and put them on the fireplace hearth ( not directly in front of it, we have a huuuuge hearth in front of the fireplace, if they sat off to the side of it they wouldn't get the full blast of the heat).

My Current bettas:
Sullivan- Orange rose tail halfmoon male
Daisy- Mustard Gas (black and yellow) veil tail female
Milton- Teal butterfly halfmoon male (mom's betta)

I wrapped them in polystyrene and put a tight lid on, then draped a dark towel over top of that. It kept them alive for the 13 days of no power and some even decided to build bubblenests.

Well the power finally came back on. (YAY) so now the fish are happily placed back into their tanks, with heaters. Now i'll be more prepared for the next time we have a power outtage.
