Uhmm.. About the cricket thing, be very careful. Bugs (if they can properly live in the environment, like if you lived down south where it is warmer) can be some of the worst invasive species out there, killing off pretty much the whole food chain. I know you're trying to save lives, but just...Maybe next time, let them live in a big fish tank for the rest of their lives or something.. :) Don't want to end up risking wildlife lives lol! I can see why you were trying to save them, and I do respect that. It's tough, the whole circle of life thing--and having carnivorous pets that cannot digest pellet foods.
Good luck with whatever choice you make! It frustrates me that goldfish are used as feeders anyway, they are about the worst choice nutrient wise of all the fish out there. At least for reptiles, goldfish are a HUGE no-no. Not to mention the way they are kept only serves to make the goldfish sick, and therefore the animal meant to eat the goldfish sick... Not good, not good at all.
