Soooo sad. ):

So some of you may have seen my thread I posted last night.

About half an hour ago I got back from the movies with my friends. Across from our movies is a Petco. I had plans to go and get one of their king males, my betta obsession. (I called them earlier yesterday and they said they had 2 left)

After I fell in LOVE with one of them and took him to the register, they told me to put it back because you had to be 18.

I'm very upset.

You have to be eighteen to buy a king betta? That's weird. I'm sorry. If I had been there, I would have bought him for you.~

You probably have to be 18 to buy any fish/pet, or in the presence of an adult.

Huh. I feel like I've been living under a rock because I've never had any trouble like that before I turned eighteen... Maybe I looked old enough or the employees were just irresponsible or whatever... Either way, I had no idea about that.

That's odd. o.o I'm fourteen (and look my age if not younger, haha) and have bought fish from Petco without my parents before without any troubles. Maybe we just have weird employees or something. XD
Anyways, sorry you weren't able to get your fish. D: I love king betta's - wish I could find more around here. x.x

Petco allows me to purchase animals and such and I'm only 16. A couple of years ago I bought a fish from them (it died) and they didn't ask me to return them or anything. No adults were with me at the time either. It's obvious that I'm not 18 years old, too.

Speaking from experience working for a large chain.. Not every store will follow the rules to the T. But some do. They have this rule for a reason.

Why don't you just go back with your parents and hopefully the fish is still there?
