Bugs in diet?

So I saw the "Mosquito Country" thread and had to ask this: What kinds of bugs are considered 'good' in a betta's diet?

I think anything that evolves from a larva state can be used as food.

Be a master of water and the fish will follow

Moths always land in my tanks. The Bettas eat the boodies and leave the wings and head...kinda gross coz the moth scales make a mess on the water but they love it..
Mine also get aphids and small houseflies, Basically, if its small and moves the betta will eat it as long as its not poisonous..

So theoretically fruitflies should be fine? Haha, I should've let Dol eat all the ones that landed by his bowl over Christmas...lol :)

Fruit-flies and their larva are loved by my bettas. They can't get enough of them! Its also pretty easy to raise them with a starter culture from stores like Petco/Petsmart. Just make your own medium and they will flourish. I often find wild ones in my micro-worm cultures in the summertime if I forget to put tissue on the lid.

If you have tropical flakes he may take them as an alternative for a few days, other than that I would recommend, Brine Shrimp, Blood Worms, White Worms. Hard Boiled egg works too but it fouls that water rather quickly. Hope this helps. Sounds like a trip to the LFS, pass by the Bettas for all of us! :)

Odysseus loves mosquitos and small spiders. The girls upstairs are too thick to understand what live food is before the Endler girls chomp it down...

Grovyle: I would feed the crumbed up yolk of a hard-boiled egg every second day, or live insects if you can catch them. If necessary, you can fast your betta til Friday.

Life.

your fish will be just fine without food until friday. it will probably be good for its digestive system.

they can go a few weeks without food. that's how they can be so picky sometimes.
