That bucket is perfect :3 A net will do fine to get them. Sometimes I would get murky water from puddles and stick them into my bucket.

I dunno about using a straw. You could accidentally swallow one O_o a net is good, and you can even give them a good rinse in conditioned water before feeding.

(Hinthint - Turkeybaster works best after they are rinsed~)

You plug up one end with your finger and stick it in the water air is trapped when you release your finger the air is released up the top and water comes inalong with squigglers when you replace your finger the water becomes thraped and you can lift it out.

I use a brine shrimp net to gather mine, just swish in the betta's tank. A little extra "stuff" won't hurt them. They LOVE mosquito larva! Some of mine actually get so excited they flare while eating.

what if they dont eat one and it escapes.... and then i will have a mosquito in my tank O.o

I'm sure the larvae won't live that long. Bettas gobble up ANYTHING that moves in a tank, and don't stop even if they are full!

Just try to feed sparingly if you're worried, though :3

They will have to come up to the top to breath the betta is sure to eventual see them

oh no i would never put my mouth near that water (do you know what bugs do it there?

)i dont have a turky baster so i improvised.

i may use the straw and drop them into my net, and perch my net in the water, so when i lift them i have no dirty water, and i have only mosquito larva
