Information on website building please?

I was wondering if anyone had any websites with GOOD simple to understand information on building websites where I could start learning about how to do it?

I want to volunteer some time to help my local mom and pop pet store list the actual merchandise they carry and possibly help to create online sales.

When I started working in high school the original owner, who passed away recently, gave me my first job. Sadly it wasn't a forever job for me, but the store has always held a special place in my heart.

When the new owner took over, who was also a long time employee of the store, he changed from selling puppies and kittens into re-homing rescue dogs and cats only.

Currently he is being somewhat overwhelmed because the new owner was the one who did most of the online and website areas of the business. If I could learn how to do this, and it isn't immensely difficult I could take a few hours per day and help them out.

As a bonus I would also learn how to build a nice website to hopefully list and sell my bettas when I start breeding. I know there are simple templates that allow anyone no matter their skill level to make websites. I have tried to play with these and have been very disappointed with the results which is why I was wondering if anyone could point me to good information for a dummie like me.

Thank you

Just go with the HTML templates. I never even knew what they were called till reading your post.

You could learn the hard way by teaching yourself HTML. That's what I sort of did after reading that 5 year olds had their own websites.

Made me think, it's THAT easy? So I sort of learned.

If you ever run into problems with the HTML, it's because some html/codes are viewed differently depending on which browser you're using.

That's all I know.

Thanks I will look into it. I am not sure I can use templates for what I want to help someone do but I will check it out.

Thanks too DQ.
