Yes, you get really used to it pretty quickly.

taking a break from fish-keeping.
3 lovely male betta still keep me company.

Unfortunately, very low pay.

Have you thought about dog grooming or training? Also low pay but very little blood and guts

Dog grooming, you need a very firm hand. Did that too a few times at the vet's office (they did grooming). I actually really liked grooming, had a blast at blow drying a terrier who tried to eat the nozzle. It also starts you off minimum wage after school, not sure about getting past that.

I know Petco in not everyone's first or favorite choice of pet store but they will train people to become dog trainers and groomers as long as you commit to working only for them for a certain amount of years. My dog groomer started out at Petco and now she has her own shop and employees and she's really good at what she does.
