I found this beautiful video about how to create a balanced planted aquarium.

I didn't watch the whole 42 minute video, but I watched bits and pieces of it. Very interesting! The tank turned out beautifully. I'll probably be referring back to it when I have more time. Thanks for posting it!

My lovely bettas are: Dagger, Egg, Salsa, Marble, Augustus, Miles
Puddles, Oz, Nate, Monkey, Picasso, Feng, and Maui

I am still watching it. It's well worth if you have the time to get a good idea what is involved if you want a tank of plants accented by beautiful fish.

Someone here has a signature which says; "Become a Master of water and the fish will follow".

Maintaining a tank isn't about keeping the fish alive, it's about being balanced and creating harmony, in my honest opinion!

Wow!!! What backbreaking work. Now all he needs are some Spongebob squarepants ornaments... ;0)
I am disappointed that, after all that effort, he didn't use some large fish; I guess fish seem to be the afterthought! I thought aquariums were for fish? I do understand the point of scale, but there is so much swimming room in the tank, he could have schools of mid- and high- level swimmers.
I NEED those substrate holders he's using. After every cleaning, the substrate in my tanks is leveled.

4 bettas: Butch, 3-year-old violet male PK EE & 3 girls in a 30 gal sorority. I do not name the girls anymore! 1/2 of them die within a month.
30 gal: 9 Oto cats, 4 Ocellifer cats. Inverts: Cherry shrimp & 2 assasin snails.
10 gal.: Butch, his 5 oto cats, 3 assasin snails, and a few snails the assassins haven't caught.

I also found this site for glass beads and stones for aquarium decor! I am looking for very specific theme, and this place has all kinds of stones, so I thought I would share!

I think that is a bother for me about some aquascapers - it's something I've noticed in the AGA, for instance. So much of the focus is on beautiful tanks, and occasionally (not all or even most of the time, just sometimes) they forget the needs of the fish, or place them second to their asthetic preference.

Life.
