Looking at Rays

Now, I'm wondering how some people can see the rays of their bettas. I can see then and count them in CTs and SOME HMs, but what about the others? I'm just asking, because it seems hard at times to see the lines when bettas are constantly moving and I can't get a good picture. Also, their coloration doesn't help. I can never see any prominent lines. Does anyone have any advice to help me get a better look?

A tutorial on this would be great! I have trouble figuring out all the rays too. I think that's where I'm most stuck on figuring everything out.

Dream Bettas: Pure white HM or VT (for my daughter), new 'spikey' fish (CT for my son), blue & orange betta male (for my fiance), and more live plants (for my bettas )

There's a good article about that. Hm... Here we go: http://bettysplendens.com/articles/p...articleid=1642

Essentially, every split/branching you see is a ray.
