I just had to rescue a GloFish from a friend of a friend who ran out and bought a nano tank and (at the same time) 3 GloFish. She presented the whole thing to my friend's 4-year-old daughter as a present. I stopped by the house the next day & 1 fish was dead already (surprise!). I noticed that the big box fish store didn't sell the woman a HEATER! I went home & rustled up a nano heater I had in storage & brought it over. By this time, fish #2 was dead. Plus, this "friend" didn't even have an extra power strip for the heater- so fish #3 is probably dead by now, but I've washed my hands (so to speak) of their fish. IDIOTS JUST DONT'T LISTEN!!! WHAT DOOFUS BUYS A TROPICAL FISH SET UP W/O A HEATER????? I am SO SICK of people who think fish are just toys!!!! I gave them water treatment, plus some plants & decor from my established tank, trying to get them to understand basic beneficial bacteria & WHY WE HAVE TO WAIT TO ADD FISH. I wrote out a proper care sheet for these two friends to look over, including links to tank cycling & proper FAQ sites. SO if one of them decides to get serious, they can do it themselves. The poor kid, too- they got her excited about fish then they die. Like some one just posted: PEOPLE!!!!!
