A lot of countries treat the elderly and disabled with respect, just not here. I would rather be called disabled then handicapped, which my mom says all the time.

Uhhhhh..........LOL WHAT HOW CAN A TABLE BE DISABLED? XD

I think disabled is strictly for humanoid/biotic nouns.

@DQ: I agree, but for me and my friends/family we change our wording depending on where we are. If we are in public we say disabled. We only say handicapped when we refer to the handicapped parking spot, purely because we grew up with calling it that.

When my dad had his handicapped parking spot pass from the hospital, he always called it his "cripple ticket for the cripple spot" *SIGH* fortunately he never said that in public, omg.

I know, I was referring to the fact that "person" must be in there somewhere. I think that the words used shouldn't really matter, unless they have negative connotations. Like, I can see someone getting upset at being called "retarded," but disabled? Handicapped I can understand, although I still call them "handicapped spots" also.

I think the word "retarded" isn't used much anymore. It's "developmentally disables" or "mentally challenged".

some people still use it, I think. Many more people use it to mean stupid, and that's why I could get someone people upset if they were called that.

Azrael died today... And I honestly haven't had the time to be sad about it. I have an uncomfortable feeling in my stomach, and I kind of feel emotionally numb right now. I have a feeling this isn't going to be good. Loved the little guy. :(

I'm sorry, Metalbetta. It seems like there is a death wave going around right now.

The weird thing is it was just sudden acute dropsy. Like, he dropped dead after 24 hours after I noticed he had raised scales. Scary...

I'm so sorry. Aurora died within 2 days after she started looking sick. It's really hard because you don't have enough time to day goodbye.
