Guppy Care!

I was thinking about getting some guppies but I still have a few questions AqAdvisor couldn't answer.

It said that a 10g tank with 4 guppies with a Tetra Whisper PF10 would need for filtration capacity, with filtration capacity at 91%. Is this ok? Or do I need a stronger filter? What is a stronger filter?

Also, Stocking Level is 79%. Is this pushing it?

One more thing, guppies prefer warm water, correct? What is a good heater?

Thanks!

I'm sorry I can't answer your questions. I've never had guppies. Hopefully someone will come along and give you some advice.

For most of my 10 gallon tanks I use the tetra "Whisper" submersible filters rated for 10 gallons,
I keep anywhere from 1 pr to a hundred guppies in a single tank.
being as guppies have lots of young every month it's doesn't take long to have an over abundance of them.

More fish = more water changes as something can go wrong much faster..

I keep my guppies at a temp of 78 - 82,
the warmer the water the shorter their life span, the cooler the longer they live, within reason of course.

Thanks! What heater do you use? Also instead of a 10g with the Tetra Whisper 10, would a 20g witha Tetra Whisper 20 be ok with 10 guppies? I want to breed to use fry for betta food, so care doesn't have to be top-of-the-line. What would be a good heater for a 20g?

I prefer the submersible heaters over the hang on ones.
The more filtration the better, I have some 10 gallons I upgraded their filters to the tetra submersible rated for a 30 gallons, so simple put the more filtration the better,

Alright, thanks! Would the Aqueon Submersible heater work? The 20g one.

Never used that brand that I'm aware of,
But I would assume it should work.
Anytime you put a new heater in a tank it should be monitored for a few days anyways.

I dont think a 20g is really needed, not for guppies. Especially if you just want to use for feed. if you had a 10, or are having issues getting a 20, personally I would just use the 10.
