Molly basset will be 4 in January. When we first got her, our two cats Lex and Kira (12 and 10 years old) disappeared from our lives. I felt awful. They hung out in the hall upstairs and wouldn't come down. I was pretty sure that we'd never see them again. I got them a kitty tower that sits in the living room against the stairs so that they could come be in the living room without being at floor level. They just stepped through the stair railing and could be on the tower. We'd see Kira for most of the day. Lex only came down when it was treat time after dinner. At night Molly was in a crate in our bedroom and the girls had the run of the house.
In the past couple months Molly and Kira have made great strides in friendship which just culminated in this moment:
My husband came home to see them and Molly got all riled up. She went bonkers, Kira bit her lip and the whole thing dissolved into the usual chaos.
It cracked me up. I just bought that bed for Molly today and I turn around to see if she's enjoying it and there's Kira. I never saw a cat so mad for beds. Molly has a bed outside on the deck too and Kira gets in it. Molly just kinda stands there, shifting from foot to foot and looking at her. At least they co-exist now.
The lip biting didn't even upset Molly. She's a complete doofus when it comes to the cats. She ignores all their "GET AWAY FROM ME!!!!" signals. :P
