Question Mother wants a fish tank~ help?

You see my mother has recently realized that she quite likes fish [go figure] and wants a nice big decorative tank. Minimum 40 Gallon. However she doesn't want a betta. No so much that she doesn't love mine but she wants a well stocked tank with tons of plants that will look nice ect ~

Well stocked of course doesn't mean over stocked. She just wants more then one fish XD

So I need some ideas guys - what are some good attractive communities and what size tank do you recommend. She has a whole room to put this thing in so it wont be too much of a problem. c:

Xochipilli - Butterfly HM Male
Ginko - White/Black Marble Delta Female :D
Agathon - White/Blue Marble SD Male

- Rice Paddy In The Sky -
Commie - Red VT Male
Blackout - Black Rosetail Male

If you get any kind of livebearers you'll end up getting overrun because they breed like rabbits. A neighbor of mine has a 29 gallon bowfront and she has different kinds of tetras. It looks really nice.

I'm thinking of doing a pygmy cory, neon tetra, shrimp, and whatever else can join without overstocking, tank. Some live and fake plants with some neat hiding places. :]

What about a pair of angelfish? Be careful though they do eat smaller fish like neon tetras. Also you could have corys or a group of clown loaches.

5 gallon,natural planted tank with 1 betta.
20 gallon community tank.
6 gallon guppy fry tank.

My mom is the same as your's. Personally she loves how neon tetras school, especially in a nice big planted tank. They are small fish, easy to take care of, and really do look quite nice so I recommend them to your mom.

I used to love Neon tetras until I read about that horrible neon tetra disease that will stay in your tank forever. So I decided no thanks.
I reckon a school of rummy noses, about a dozen or so look lovely. Try some sort of cichlid like blue rams or Bolivian rams, they are cute. Cories and a bristlenose is a must as well. Try to stick to the same type of Cory. Pandas are super cute!!
I read somewhere that if you get a baby angel fish and have it with your rummies or other small tetras from a really young age, they will grow up not ever realising that they can eat the tetras. Im not sure how true that is, and i guess it would depend on the nature of the fish. But angels are a striking fish to have.
I recommend getting a really good fish breed book.

My 2ft 16G/60L
1 x Male VT - Jaffa
3 x Platies - Honey, Sunnie & Freckles
1 x Albino Bristlenose - Sushi
4 x Albino Corys
& Various Shrimp

A tank with cories, black neon tetras, harlequin rasboras, neon tetras, gourmai, platies, would be nice to have. As far as I have seen, Harlequin rasboras school really nicely.

or a chichlid tank. I bet you could fool some people into thinking its a marine tank :P some Chichlids are so beautiful!
