As for as long as I've been keeping fish... well, as long as I can remember. With my family I used to keep goldfish, a few bettas, even tadpoles.
Decided to get the first betta OF MY OWN in March of this year as a present to myself for getting hired at Applebee's. That lucky little guy was Winston. That's when I got bit by the bug... Nina and Rikku, then Cameron, Damian, Jayde, Mew, Daiquiri, Faye, Sora, Azrael .... And the ball is still rolling. lol

heh this thread is cool!

catching up....

I'm 26...omg how did this happen????? I feel like I'm still 16!!!! LOLLL Don't be in a hurry to grow up people! It ain't that great!

I got into bettas this past August. I bought a 3G Eclipse on a whim, and the pet shop said danios would be OK in it (LIES!) and said it was cycled after a day (MORE LIES!)....One died, the other 2 lived.

Then I bought them a 10G, then I put Danny Boy in the 3G...Then I bought danios a 16G....Then gave them to a friend bc I wanted more bettas....and so on and so forth...

I'm an exotic dancer (don't yell at me!!) so thankfully I have flexible time to
care for them. And a roommate who doesn't mind me using every spare corner. hehe
I think it's cute how him & people who usually don't like fish see mine and go "omgggg I want a tank!!! How do you set one up??"... I like making "converts" to bettas.

I also worked on a farm animal rescue in the middle of NOWHERE in Oregon & took care of pigs, horses, fowl, goats (my fav!), and sheep. Then worked at a paint horse breeder farm as a ranch hand.
I have a degree as a Vet Tech, but just can't see animals put to sleep...That's an aspect of the job I'm not ready for. So I'm studying Culinary Arts now. :)

I'm a nerd too & still think XFiles was the best show ever.

YaY for the Adoption Option
I've found 5 loving homes for 5 of my finned fellas, thanks
to this forum!

I was into culinary for a while in my high school because I love to cook and it was my dream to open a vegetarian fast-food chain but then I realized how much I actually hate the restraunt atmosphere.
