Stubborn Snail refusing to be picked up -

Lol
My poor little mystery snail has shown me some of his personality, he's stuborn when it comes to doing what he wants.
It makes sense because lately I had to move him from 3 different homes, but don't worry all were safe except when the heater in his OWN tank broke (he's okay), so I quickly moved him to Shimmys while I fixed up his home.
Well his home is ready and I was trying to get him out, but he stuck himself to the bottom of the tank and would not budge. I tried again and instead of going into his shell like he did last time (which made it easy for me to pick him up), he raised his shell up and poked his face out like, "hey, don't do that!".
I gave him an algae wafer and am waiting till he gets on a rock to pick him up.

Anyone else who have mystery snails or apple snails do things like this?
What kind of personality or funny things have they done?

I've had dozens of apple snails. They tend to do that, at times giving in. And they also parasnail.

He ended up giving in and I put him in his new home. Since then i've seen him in several different places, he moves when no ones watching. lol
I have seen him move around and eat, they are pretty cool creatures!

I love it when they reach the surface, and then just *pop* off.

I only have 1 betta left, but he's a cool blue marble!

I've only seen my snail do that once, when I was doing a water change he slipped off the side of the wall and floated around in the current, moving his body around.
It was funny/cute ~

Oh, does anyone know. Do they prefer gravel/rocks on the bottom or are they okay with a bare bottom?
Because when mine had gravel, he would flip himself over using a piece of gravel as a weight (cool!).
He does not have gravel at the moment, but a few marbles and (lucky) bamboo plants with roots floating around.
I think he likes the bamboo, I see him climp up on it frequently.

They're fine with barebottom. They have no preference.
