100 Guppies in a 10 gallon?!?!

"i also have lots of guppies(probably 100 or so) all sizes for sale 4/$1 or will make a deal on bulk purchase. these are standard guppies not fancy ones. these are all in a nice 10 gal setup right now i'm looking to break down. i will sell the tank for $20 as is (heater/bubble screen/decor/gravel/hood/light). also available are 5 & 10 gal tanks with undergravel filter ($4-7ea)very cheap if interested. looking to downsize what i have... questions please email or call/text"

That was from a Craigslist ad I just found.

How can anyone think that's ok?

Tanks- 55 gal(in progress)-Common pleco, Angels, lemon and rummynose tetra, blue rams; 29 gal planted- rasboras, corys, otos, clown plec, shrimp; 10 gal- juvenile goldfish; 6 gal planted- betta

Other Pets-Maggie(Tricolor Paint Mare),
Lily(Sun Conure), Zoe and Melina(Budgies), Leonardo- Bearded Dragon, Pilot and Phoenix(Golden Retrievers), Beckham(german shepard/akita), Myrtle and Richard(hermit crabs)

They probably saw a chain pet store do it or something and figured "if they can do it with goldfish, I can totally do it with guppies" maybe.

It seems like they're moving in the right direction maybe...maybe they bought 10 and they started breeding and they somehow ended up with 100's.
It seems like they're looking for homes for them and to get rid of the tank...That is actually a pretty good deal on the tank though...

I had guppies once. It's so easy to underestimate how fast they breed. Sounds like a multi-gender tank gone horribly wrong. They do NOT eat their young. Not in my experience anyway. :/

That's why all my Endler's are male. You only make that mistake once. :P I hope he gets them off to good homes.

16 Gallon-4 Corys, 3 Endler's, 5 Celestial Pearl Danios
10 Gallon: Male King Betta-Kilo
5 Gallon: Male Marble HM-Logan
5 Gallon: Dwarf Puffer-Huey
5 Gallon: Male VT-Tango

I'm glad I didn't buy Guppies and settled for Platies instead. They're not as prolific, but even after a couple of weeks a heavily pregnant female is sitting in the hastily set up 15 gallon 'maternity' tank in my shed

Awww, I'll just go check on her now...
