Maybe a spider bite? or like vaygirl said, maybe a bone spur? Hope your foot gets better though! :( If it was sudden with no remembered injury I would bet on a bite.

Try to relax a little about the doctor too. If you tell your doctor you are terrified, they always take it really easy on you. Mine have always been really understanding and have worked with the fear. :)

Well I'm finally home. The doctors THINK its gout which is crazy because gout usually occurs in 45+ year old men, rarely women and when it does show up in women it's usually after menopause. So it showing up in a 20 year old is crazy.

They're not totally sure though so I have to make an appointment with a regular doctor. They did give me pain meds so hopefully they'll help because honestly when I took my shoe off just now I almost screamed it hurt so bad.

Eek! Poor you! My husband's Dad had that for a while. I hope the pain meds take the edge off.

Thanks.. it's finally starting to kick in and feel a little better (at least it doesn't hurt just to move my foot). I had some ice on it which really helped too.

Ew, gout, my father had that, and when he'd get attacks, he'd be in just awful pain. Hope they told you about what foods you should avoid. I know lobster is a big no no, but other than that, I sorta never paid attention >.>

I don't eat any of the foods listed... at least not often and not in the past week or so. I'm not 100% sure it's gout just yet. I'll have to see my general doctor and have some tests run before I can get a definitive answer.

I honestly don't think it's gout.
It sounds like a stress fracture to me, or a bone spur. Ignore what the ER doc said, as he's obviously not got a clue. Hopefully your GP will have a better answer.
