and the bigger the tank the longer they will leave mine lived in a 20 and then a 15 gallon

when she does feeds him how much is it? if he is not swimming much staying at the bottom and his fins are clamped he is probley cold. It also may be overfeeding, ammonia poisioning, lotta reasons post your question in the disease section may get more help there

In terms of his burying his head in the gravel- do you use water conditioner? If not, that might be the reason.

I have told her to get him a tank, I hope I have her convinced.
His fins aren't clamped and he only gets two pellets every other day and they are small, but he will rarely eat them.
Yes we use water conditioner.
As of now he is swimming happily around his small vase.Her other betta, Hank, (where she gets these names I have no clue) Has an even smaller space to swim and I tried to get her to at least put him in a bigger vase. She is going to buy a bigger one for him tomorrow. But Hank has never done these things.
