Impatient shopping buddy

So my mom wanted to go to our meijers and asked me to go with her and I said I could if I could look at the fish. I was tempted to buy more fish or maybe live plants if they had them.

I was patient while she was shopping for her coupon stuff and then she left me there at the fish tanks to get fish food for our tanks. And then she came back so I looked at air pumps for my bubbler that I'm missing. I was only there like not even three minutes in the fish aisle before she started to telling me to hurry up. So finally I said I give up and told her to start walking.

She was like "are you sure you don't want anything?" Of course I wanted something she doesn't understand that there's things to look for though. Like I saw a little sucker fish dead on it's back in a tank I didn't have time to find exactly the type of fish because of her. I couldnt even get to see what type of plants they had.

I'm disappointed. I hate asking my dad to drive me places because he drives a lot for work but he patiently waits for me and sometimes asks questions about what I'm getting.

Anyone else have a experience where you're tempted to throw something at your friend/family for being so impatient with that type of stuff?

I feel your pain. My mom and I went to Petco so that I could buy Prime, plants, the usual. And I bought her a 10g fish tank for HER betta. But she was getting impatient. So I grabbed the next stocked bottle behind Prime...wasn't prime at all. It was Reef Plus...for saltwater tanks.

It's very difficult to shop when someone is breathing down your throat. Luckily for me, I have my own car and make my own money, so I can go to LFS/LPS, and Petco/smart whenever I need to go. Plus online shopping for me is an option.

Is it a possibility to "online shop" for tank things, and then when you know what you specifically want you can buy them in the store? That way you have more time to look at live plants/fish?

Unfortunately no I just turned 18 in January. This summer my dad promised to teach me to drive so by the end of this year I'm planning to get my drivers license so I can get a job and then be able to have money for helping with phone bill and get the stuff I want for my tanks. I live in the country so any place that hires is alway 30+ minute drive. There's no way in heck I'm walking through woods. Our meijers is 30 minutes away. The closest bait and pet shop is 45. Closest petco/petsmart is about an hour and a half just going there not including the time there and coming back. It's rediculous.

It's frustrating, but not having a license is only temporary. And living SO FAR from stores is I was 19 when I learned how to drive, and didn't get my license until a couple months ago at 22. It is very difficult situation to be in especially when you NEED things, but cannot get to them (I, too, live in the country [middle of central PA]). My LPS is 30 minutes, and Petco is about one hour away; Petsmart an hour and a half with traffic, on a good day.

Lol I feel bad whenever asking someone for a ride. It might take me a while to find a job though, I'm a highschool drop out. Right now I babysit my brothers kids for computer maintenance, games or money. Sometimes I do it just to get out of the house.

My advice on the job hunt: find things that interest you and apply even if you feel you are "under qualified." There is no better way to get your name out there, than to apply for jobs. If you get a call back - and an interview, and they feel you do not have what they are looking for; in the very least, you are gaining interview experience. Being unemployed can be very taxing - emotionally and mentally. Just keep your hopes up and apply for positions. Once you get your foot in the door somewhere and gain experience, you can always find a new job.

I always felt bad too asking for rides before I had my license. Good luck on the job hunt, and the tanks!

Im hoping for a job that has to deal with animals but I won't be to picky on that. I have goals. I want to one day own a pet store. That's why I would like a job for now to have something to do with animals.

And thanks. I'm trying my best.

hehe I’m fourteen and I know how to drive a little. Perks of living in a country town. i feel the whole loooong drive thing. Hour away form ALL fish stores, not timing in traffic.
