Bright Idea!

I've decided to use a large Sterilite bin for a goldfish tank. It's only big enough for one Goldie (22 gallons), but I want one so badly! I'm going to get an internal filter for it so I don't have to worry about rigging up a HOB filter. It's perfect! I can always get a bigger bin if the Goldfish gets too large.

The only problem with that is gold fish are very social fish and should be in groups to be happiest.

Maybe get 1 goldfish and a few other small fish but not too small to keep with him. I kept a goldfish alone...And he lived for a good few years. (t_t I was a newb.)

There really aren't any other fish compatible with Goldies. They create so much waste that they would kill most other fish. Also, a 20 gallon is big enough for ONLY a Goldie.

I always feel horrible when I read threads about goldfish because when I was younger we kept 2 very small comet gold fish in a 1 gallon bowl.. but they lived for 9 years. I still feel bad though.

I've also heard that fantails only need 10 gallons each. Not the bigger fancy goldfish, just fantails. I know Orandas and Ranchus get HUGE. Maybe I'll get some simple fantails or black moors.

Black Moors are soo cute! I saw some today at Petsmart and they reminded me a bit of hammerhead sharks. Absolutely ADORABLE!
