Fish Art

Besides being a recent betta fanatic, I'm also a full-time fish artist. Most of my art is in the fishing industry, represented on apparel companies and also fine art pieces. I used to be only a pencil artist, but I got into digital art and eventually put down the stylus and picked up the brushes and started acrylic painting.

Here's what I do. =) First one is done with acrylics, the other two are watercolour pencils. The first and third pieces were selected to be featured on fishing stamps, with proceeds going towards conservation here in Canada. Pretty cool!

Tried eBay and Etsy for selling decals. Was ok but got tired of having to run to the post office to mail one decal. =P

Mostly now I do commercial work.

Thinking about doing a betta painting eventually. Have a lot on my plate though. Working on this beast right now! 18x24...it's a biggun! Life size 30lb+ lake trout.

How about a brook trout? Life size is a lot smaller!

Thank you!

This brookie I did life-size with my Wacom tablet in Photoshop. Digitally painted.

Thank you. =) It's what I do full-time.

This was my first painting from earlier this year. 36" x 18" Acrylic on Canvas
Having fun with paint and getting better at it.

Aquarium
Acrylic seems to be the go-to for most wildlife artists I find, especially those that regularly win the Federal Duck Stamp contest here in the USA. I personally prefer watercolor - tried oils and acrylics, found myself watering them down so they would act like watercolor!

I really like the colored pencil pieces - colored pencil is great for getting both smoothness and detail.

So small, very fish , the blog of a turquoise veiltail named Omicron.
