Yeah, then you'll want to let the levels get up to 1.0 before doing a water change. You want to have enough ammonia in there for the bacteria. Trust me, I know. I changed my water too often and never had enough ammonia for it to cycle.

alright then i was thinking of doing one since the ph was high but i may wait then and sitll got the nitrate test to do

Are you using gravel or filter media from an established tank? Otherwise, it's most likely too soon to get nitrate readings. They usually don't show up until about the 3rd or 4th week. You might get nitrite readings though.

Okay. Then you probably will only get ammonia readings for another week. Once the ammonia readings start dropping even though you haven't done water changes, then you can test for nitrite.

Yeah. Sadly, they will. The cycle can take up to 6 weeks. If you want, you can take some gravel from one of your other tanks and put it in some panty hose. Set that in the corner of your tank. It'll help it cycle faster.
