The bucket was BLACK when I swished around the filter cartridge. Is that bad? D: D: I'm pretty much a "leave the filter alone" person, but I was curious. Hah. All I ever clean is the intake.
I don't even have a cartridge in my 20G. I stuffed it with aquaclear's 50 gallon foam. It fit perfectly. I was told using the foam would have the same effect as a cartridge. The 10G has a very dirty cartridge and aquaclear foam as I used it to try and baffle the outflow. The marineland 5G Hex - everything got busted when I moved, except the tank itself. Well, thats is broken too but up near the top so its still OK to use. I never used the filter anyways on it

Who did that?

EDIT: Yeah, foam works better than a lot of the premade cartridges for filters like Aqueon and Tetra. It does the job of mechanical filtration but it also does bio filtration too.

Tiki, replied on your thread. Book basically says a symptom is "failure to thrive." I'd say that's what Derp is doing, eh?

can the book be anymore vague? Nope, not thriving but also not dying either. I added back the fizz tabs and he isnt sideways anymore. Now he is acting like he has an anchor attached to his back fin. I guess that is better then flailing around sideways/upside down. Also gave him medicated fish food but I dont think he will eat that.

Not sure what I saw in his tank earlier but I dont think it was from anything IN the tank. There is no gravel, only silk plants from walmart and the tetra heater. They looked like .5-1 inch long, white and a few of them in a C shape, like 4-5 pure white bloodworms in a C shape. Maybe a little thicker. Seen it the other day too but though it was glue or something from the plants

If it ring it out in old tank water, wont I be getting rid of alot of the bacteria at the same time?

Poor Derpy :( How old is he? Could it just be a failing organ or something?
Someone make me coffee? I had to get out of bed even though I wanted to stay because even without my glasses I saw the big black spider walking up the wall o.o

Drink a lot of water. I think it helps the swelling.
