What isn't needed? o.O

I was reading about the substrates and that came up, should I do another dirted tank instead? It seems like the same thing just doesn't lower my parameters which are fine for cherries.

No need for doing water changes with distilled water, sorry.
I'm not a fan of dirt tanks but I know you like em so if you want, go for it.

Oh okay, maybe I will still use it as I like it since it is good for planting.

Any other good alternatives to use?

I caught up!

Tiki, beware of cheap flea meds. They can and have killed. In flea meds, it's best not to skimp. I use Revolution for my cats but prior to that I used both Frontline and Advantage or whatever it's called. I recommend both. Whatever you do, avoid flea collars.

Would 3-4 pseudotropheus socolofi in a 20gal be too much or be considered a properly crowded mbuna tank?

Don't use adams. It doesn't work.
That and cheapo flea meds are really bad for dogs. I perfer to NOT use any flea meds.
Advantix and Advantage is the best to use.
If you're tight on money and willing to try it. Go the Apply Cider Vinegar way. My pug gets a 1/2 teaspoon every meal(twice a day)

Sakura: this is probably really late, but, get some blue leds, to fake moon light, and then you can see fish. Get some of that duck weed, or whatever it is, it grows faster than anything and will eat all the food leaving nothing for the algae. Then just scoop it all out.. I have been taking my plants out about every 3 days, and, well, rinsing them, getting the slime off. They are looking much better.

Olympia, gratz on that tank. Hmm I dont know their real names, but some cool fish are dolphin fish.. brown, look like dolphins. They jump, and if they dont like each outher will ram the other in the side. I loved mine, i only had two. They had to be separated.. the one was a bully. They were very friendly ..

Fleas: diatomacious earth, not the kind that has other ingredients in it, but only the food grade kind. Put it in the beds, everywhere they sleep, be careful to keep out of eyes. You can give them a flea bath, too, to get rid of the live ones quickly... hmm there is another thing you can use too, but I cant think of it just now.
