I was going to do 20 glofish,10 Gardneri clown killifish,10 panda cory cats and 15-20 cherry shrimp in a 46 gallon bow front. But then I realized how much 20 glofish would cost. So I'm either going to go with more killifish or 20+ female bettas...either option will be cheaper than glofish. My original plan was a larger tank with discus..but my wife said she wanted small fish. I'm cool with that.

Glofish would be cheaper than gardneri? My LFS had a pair for $15 so I can only imagine what 10 gardneri would cost. As for glofish, I don't know the cost. They're illegal in CA.

Relic, what WAS that thing your daughter caught?

That . . . is a lot of money. I wouldn't spend that much when regular ol' danios are good enough for me.

Because California is insane. Apparently, it has to do with the fact that they're genetically altered. That, supposedly, is not acceptable in California. This from a state that considered legalizing a drug. o.O

OH those are gorgeous!
My buffalo heads are not gorgeous. But the babies are pale and striped! They swim really funny too, being weird bottom dwellers. It's cute though. The love the fast filter current in their little tub, they can't even handle it but they keep swimming into it! I'm worried a canister won't be good enough for them.

Do they make giant sponge filters? I want extra filtration.

Illegal in California.. they are genetically modified and California is weird about things like that.. No offense Californians. xD

My petsmart sells congo tetra for $9.99. I'm getting a school of 9.
Good thing the LFS sells them for $3.99! xD And I'll probably haggle a group deal for 9, because I like talking people down a bit with prices.

taking a break from fish-keeping.
3 lovely male betta still keep me company.

I thought it was the fish before them that were altered, and those little guys are just the offspring. Hm. Odd.
