Finally able to get on. Site was loading slow all day.

Tiki, I use liquid C02 and liquid ferts too and my snails seem okay. And congrats on the snailies!

Laki, congrats on the snaiiiiiiiiiiiiils! So sorry about Milton though.

10gal tank is up and divided but not before I discovered a few glitches. Or rather, the 3 boys discovered them. Found all 3 in the center section with two in liplock. o.O Kept fishing them back into their sections. I think I've got all the gaps plugged now. I hope. The plastic for this divider cost more than the entire tank setup so if it fails, I will cry.

Well, I was going to get a lot of work done today. And then Jake happened. Lol. I hate that he works tomorrow night, but it does mean I'll be able to get more studying done. Good and bad at the same time either way, I guess.

The rats were so calm and sweet today it made me think they were up to something. Trouble is never that calm! Silly girls. <3

You will always be my best friend, .

sakura - i did a search for mopani on applesnail.net and yeah, its most likely the mopani that is lowering the PH too much. Bummer as I liked my chunk 'o wood. I have no idea what the PH is -don't have a test for it.

Quote:
Snails will certainly suck the calcium right out of the water, but not enough to affect the pH, IMPO. Crushed coral used in the filter or substrate helps, as does Texas holy (hole-y) rock (basically a limestone/coral rock), and crushed oyster shell (used as chicken grit--but very sharp so I'd put it in the filter) and even clean sea shells. The wood is one thing bringing down your pH. You can remove it or add other things like the above to keep the pH steady. Ammonia from waste will bring down the pH too, so keep up with the water changes. And of course your tank is SERIOUSLY overstocked.
I have some small peices of coral and seashells...Wonder if its enough to make a difference. Do bettas and the soon to be here plecos like higher or lower PH? I also have some IAL on the way...probably ont be here for like 2 weeks though.

Should I take out the wood and replace it with:

My anubias need someplace to live...
I don't really need the mopani since I bid on some cholla wood on AB

AND

I DONT WANNA WORK TOMORROW..ITS SO BORING with like 2 customers a night

That's a nice piece of decor. Someone on applesnail.net said your tank was seriously overstocked? o.O

Good luck with the cholla wood bid. Keep the mopani in storage, you may need it someday. :)
