This thread? Oh, about 5000 pages ago. This forum? Always.

I can't remember if I voted in 2008 or not. I know I voted in 2000 and I think 2004, too. 2004 was right about when I had the nervous breakdown so I don't know.

Yay for surprise parties!

Tiki, Hygro should grow. :/ It's growing in my tank. Your root tabs should be okay but the m. tuberculum will need extra iron to stay that red. Without it, it will probably fade to brown. You should probably just order flourish stuff online.

Lighting. It's such a delicate balance. Not enough, the plants die. Too much, algae takes over.

Oh Anderson Cooper, you're never so handsome than when you say "CNN projects Obama will win." No wait. You're always handsome. Even when you giggle. Oh I love your giggle.

Now everyone can guess why I watch CNN. >.<

I'm not sure what its issue was. I know some plants melt so I was waiting to see new sprouts but nothing.

This is what Kfryman said:
Quote:
In a lower light and lower tech tank, you will have nitrogen (nitrates+some other things from the fish mostly pooping) and phosphorous from fish food. The only thing that you will usually need is potassium, which API Leaf Zone has, and iron for red plants and root feeders, which API's fert has as well. You don't want to be dosing all of those, because in lowlight, plants won't have enough light to grow to their full potential, so they don't uptake as much. In a tank with med-high light and co2, plants need dosing or you get algae.

With lighting/co2/ferts you need to find a balance and schedule that works for you. Doing things regularly is also good for plants. If you are doing things crazy and not having a schedule, plants won't adapt and will suffer. Timers are probably the best investment for this. (If you don't have one for your light I would get one)
*is even more confused*
Since the leaf zone has the iron and potassium in it already and I don't have high light, then all I should use is the leaf zone...because the plants aren't growing enough to need all the extra stuff? But what about the dwarf lilly and foxtails - those things grow super fast.
Don't they sell regular lights that are full spetrum 6500K whatevers?

*points to algae scrubber* I ain't afraid of you...plus the snails are supposed to be super algae eaters...I have yet to see them actually eat any off the tank.

Tiki, go with whatever Kfry says. He's the plant expert. :) And yes, they do make regular fluorescent lights that are in the 6500K spectrum. If you bought an Aqueon deluxe hood from Petsmart or Petco, that's what you have. In this case, it's not the K (kelvins) but the watts. Only way to get more watts is to get a T5-HO or a super bright LED system.

Silverfang, where ya been? Haven't seen ya much.

Lebron, they should make the day AFTER election day a no-school day. Seems to me some of those kids (looks pointedly at Obama daughters) were up late.

Hi Yuuie!

Hood? What hood. I was supposed to have a hood? J/K.
OK I looked and the light and it says Aqueon full spectrum 17 watt bulb 24 inches. According to their website the strip lights for the versa lids
are the same bulbs in their deluxe hoods.

so...is it still going by the 6500k thing or watts? This, people. is why I was a history major and not a science major

and I also noticed my leaf zone is like empty so I shall look for flourish if I can find it. i dont like ordering online and paying more for shipping then the product costs.

OOOh and I won a Aquaclear 70 for $14 might be a bit overkill for a 20G though.

Why can't I have something like this - other then the fact that petco does not have it
