ugh well Sushi looks about the same maybe a little worse looks like it's time to bring out the aquarium salt. I read somewhere that if the fin is torn or eaten away to the base of the body it won't grow back is that true? Also how much aquarium salt per gallon?

Bettas, the fin should regrow but if it gets torn up too much too frequently, there are chances it won't. I have a plakat who still has a big chunk out of his tail from a divider mishap. If the fishy has fin rot and that rot progresses to the body, the odds of the fin growing back are slimmer but if the fish is just biting then it should be okay. Since I don't think many fish can bite their own butts.

AQ salt at 1 tsp per gallon as long as you have no snails, shrimp, or live plants.

EDIT: Laki, thanks! I'm not sure, they were on recycled paper bedding at the pet store (same kind I'm using, Carefresh or something like that) but the rats were a new shipment so who knows what they were on before they got to Petsmart. They're both going in at 8 PM tonight. The lady was nice and said "Just to let you know it will be $66 for the exam and $44 for the additional pet." T_T

My veiltail chewed his tail up in September and it's still growing back. He has made good improvement and it is getting longer but I'm not too sure if it will grow back entirely...

Carter has never lost finnage. A few days before Betty died she turned from VT to CT.

Laki, which cage do you think? For the first one, I'd have to get a special metal pan made. I've read reviews that rats chew the plastic pan.

SAKURA I don't advise you bring Delilah then. I'm almost positive its URI and you can ask for extra antibiotics and save the 44$. That's ridiculous! What a shame that vets can scoundrel people like that. Hang on, I'm texting my sister and I'll see what she says. She's an expert on rats.

Hmm, the second one looks bigger but the first one is all metal? If rats have other things to chew they might leave the plastic alone but almost none of my sister's plastic cages are in pristine order.. Metal is way easier to clean and sanitize too.
