If we are made of cells, then a scientist who studies cells is actually a group of cells studying themcells!

I don't know they are pretty aggressive. I had to upgrade her from her original tank when she outgrew it.

Djembekah, if you feel it's time to euthanise, I've found the ice water method to take only a few seconds. All I do is leave a container of water in the freezer until the top has frozen over. I smash the ice on the top and remove it from the container. I then net/catch the fish, put it in and it will generally swim around for a second or so. Then it will convulse a couple of times and then it will die.

I didn't like using clove oil on my bettas as even when I mixed it and added it slowly or added the full amount right away they seem to thrash around a lot more and look to be in a lot of distress.

Only other humane method is crushing the head of the fish and destroying the brain. This is quick, probably almost painless but it doesn't leave a very good last memory of your fish. I used to wrap mine up in wet paper towel so there was minimal stress, locate the head and crush it with a single hammer blow.

Sorry that you have to contemplate euthanasia though. Unfortunately with fish the burden has to fall to us.

Lol, it's a sea lamprey (sp?). The photo has been edited. I was reading about it from a facebook group called I f****** love science. xD

It really does "suck the life out of fish", though. It attatches itself to fish and sucks their internal juices until the fish eventually dies. It's a pretty cool parasite, IMO. :3

I watched a documentary on lamprey. Apparently they have caused massive problems I think for the Great Lakes (not American but believe that is what they are called). They are terrible things and they were poisoning them in the rivers that fed into these lakes when the lamprey were only young and there where just so many of them.

I really hope that this video doesn't get me in trouble, seeing as some of the words in the song in it.

This dude does Chris Brown's "Look At Me Now" song, but with Family Guy voices!!!!
