Yea chickens only produce eggs every 25 hours for the first two years of their lives if you get a laying breed. Once your pet chicken is 8 years you don't even get nearly as many eggs if any. Less specialized breeds may do only 2-3 eggs a week. We would always get rid of them once they hit 2-3 years cause feeding them doesn't pay off anymore.

I would love to have them around as pets though! Eggs or no, chickens make fabulous pets. I would like to train them. Oliver doesn't earn his keep either -_-

Got a new nerite for Osha's tank and 3 clumps of anacharis. Buddy gave me one free with purchase of 2. The nerite doesn't look too good.

There's some people in my neighborhood that raise chickens. I would for the fresh eggs and chicken but there is ordinances against the slaughtering of livestock.

I'm thinking of adding some fish to at least one of my tanks but can't decide between rasboras or glowfish. They'd both do well with my neon tetras so I don't know?

I love chickens. We used to have a group of Belgian Bearded d'Uccle and they were the worst egg layers in the world being bantams. All the hens would do is just amass a tower of eggs and make me feel like the world's worst chicken mother for having to take them out from under her.

I cried so much when a fox got in and broke the necks of all my chickens in one night. My mum slept with our rooster Brutus in a sock in her bed when he was only very young and all of the others were either hand reared or out of my first hen and rooster.

Aw that sounds nice :) Sorry about the casualties though :<

New nerite, all beat up is named Hodor. Since him and Osha share a tank. After the anacharis bath I found some MTS and the ones I caught are in my coldwater salvinia tank. I don't know what to do with them. And I know there's egg sacs on the anacharis bc I picked one off already.

Have a couple weird three hour shifts this week. i don't like it. if i keep getting the same number of days with fewer hours i will probably need a new job :/

also i found a pet and livestock group on Facebook and there was a beautiful lop for $5 and Lucy wants a bunny so bad. if we got rhe go ahead i'd totally make space for her >.< but i probably couldn't give her the space she really needs.

I heard you want a high energy dog.... How about a JRT mix?! Shelters are packed with them bc people don't understand the energy requirements. I had to walk Coco up to 4x a day on his high-energy days. And afterwards those walks included a 15-30 minute intense chase-tug play session. I'm telling you, you will be turning down hanging out with friends and sleepovers bc you'll have to walk your dog! Guaranteed! And for a long time. Terriers live forever.
