What are you afraid of?

I really hope this thread takes off. I think it would be interesting to know what everyone is afraid of.
Whether it be a robber breaking into your house or getting into a car accident.
Me? I'm afraid of the U.S. Government. Don't get me wrong, I love my country, but not our government. I was always hearing about conspiracy theories about the U.S. Government and I was quite scared, not wanting to believe any of it even though most of it made perfect sense, but finally decided to take a breath and open up my eyes and allow what I was reading and discovering into some thought and consideration. Let's just say I bit off more than I could chew.
So, what are you afraid of?

Fish-related: any of my tanks leaking

Non fish related: I'm scared that I'm never going to find a job that I'm passionate about and I'll end up alone and homeless and that my family would abandon me. I used to be afraid of the dark too.

I never was afraid of the Government....until recently. That's all I'll say about that.

When you hear about conspiracy theories you must consider the source...is it reputable? Are other reputable outlets also reporting this? There are plenty of rag journalism sites thanks to the internet so you must do research. Some of these conspiracy theories have been so outlandish it's hard to believe that folks could even believe them at face value. But when you are bombarded with bull you can start believing it. My own sister is proof of that...she'll believe anything on her facebook feed...especially if it backs up her way of thinking.

The problem is, is I do way to much researching. There are so much conspiracy theories out there that make no sense whatsoever, no matter how many times these people try to shove it in your face. The thing is, is people take things they see on the news or media and just run with it, or twist it up into nonsense without researching any of it. Simply arguing with you just because they saw it on the news and that makes them an expert. Ridiculous. Many of the conspiracy theories I invest my time into are government related, some give you a good chuckle, but other get your brain going. I definitely don't waste my time on those journalism sites that are trying to make a quick buck, they're pretty easy to spot. I like to search for evidence, maybe some stories from different individuals? Photos perhaps? A video or two? Pretty interesting stuff when you dive deep into it, that's for sure!

What are you afraid of?

Yeah... not so happy with how ****s going down right now...

Err not so sure if I have a greatest fear? I have depression, OCD, and anxiety problems (documented not self diagnosed). Hrmm thinking about it I'm probably most afraid of myself / irrational fears that paralyze you mentally/disable you with panic attacks? Idk lucky I'm antidepressants and antianxiety helps me stay sane and in control haha.

Yeah, I'm not so happy either!

I understand with OCD, my mom is diagnosed with it (documented) and it's tough at times, not only for the rest of the family and I, but for her as well, she's always exhausted. My mom and dad both have a great deal of anxiety problems, mostly my mom, oh man. I wouldn't say I have anxiety, I'm just paranoid. To the point where I have to make sure our doors are locked every time I pass them. I can understand why you would be afraid(not saying in a mean way! :)) I'm glad your antidepressants and antianxiety meds are helping you!

Agreed although on OCD there are several variants like the "everything must be even and symmetrical" variety the "lock the doors 4 times then tie your shoes 8 times" then the "bacteria is ripping into my skin and I need to sterilize everything" (all loosely paraphrased)

My OCD is of the bacterial variety. It's gotten a lot better tho, when I was younger (8) I'd wash my hand so much they would get to the point where they bled haha. Since going through college I've learned the difference between covered in paint, plaster, sawdust and public restroom mysterious wet spot dirty. :)

Haha baby steps anyway.
Having my betta has really helped in all respects of mental health however. 10/10 would recommend to people who have the emotional room to care for another creature.

My moms OCD is bacterial as well. When she was really bad with it, we lived in a 2 story house and she wouldn't allow anyone downstairs until she cleaned the whole downstairs and kitchen, while we were eating breakfast, she would clean the whole upstairs and all the bedrooms, then once we were done, she would clean the kitchen *again* and then clean the whole downstairs *again*. We weren't allowed to make our own food because she feared us getting the kitchen dirty or putting fingerprints on appliances! We couldn't even sit on the couch or open windows. We would go into public bathrooms and she would wash her hands, wipe the counter down, throw it away, grab another paper towel, and open all the doors with it. She also washes her hands so much, they bleed and crack! Luckily, this was years ago and has gotten so much better! We can cook for ourselves, sit on the couch, all sorts of stuff, our current house is a one story (we've never had before) and it makes cleaning for her so simply and fast! She loves it! We have cats, and let me say, they help her a lot. She had a betta in that 2 story named Marlow-Blue-QKazoo in a 5 gallon tank, but she killed him by putting him in distilled water (thanks internet) she told us he died from depression, lol. Sorry for the long post, but I definitely understand what OCD is like in bacterial sense. It's exhausting for everyone, especially the individual who has OCD!

I'm afraid of falling!!!! Ahhhh I hate the feeling you get in your stomach such as free falling. I don't mind heights and could be up high as long as it's in a secure place such as a building. But when I went to the Grand Canyon I had to sit down and never got within 10 feel of the edge haha. Also I'm lighting crazy about the sun 😅 I hate getting too much of it since I was told I had a lot of sun damage and now practically hide from it and always wear sun screen outside.
