Look at Ayn Rands work

Animals are not ours to exploit for money or pleasure.

Those who would abuse animals would do so to a human without second thought.

Loved loved loved loved loved The Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged. Good suggestion!!

Animal testing is a terrible idea; they get all nervous and give the wrong answers.

War and peace has a lot of names? (gets note book)

There is a list of characters at the front of the book. The names are long and sometimes the characters are called by a different names in the book - like a nickname. I had to keep flipping back to the list to get it straight.

I don't have my copy anymore (i prolly tossed it out the window) or I'd give you some examples.

Don't take this as an insult but I think Ayn Rand might be a little over your head. I didn't try Atlas Shrugged out until I was a senior in highschool and even then it was very heavy.

Moby Dick is a great one as is Les Miserables (one of my FAVORITE plays BTW). War and Peace is very heavy.. I'd probably leave that one off.

Others you might try are Charles Dickens, the Bronte sisters works (Wuthering Heights, Jane Eyre), Jane Austen, Shakespeare, Sir Walter Scott, Hemingway.

If you want to be ready for books you'll probably have to read in school try:
Animal Farm
Ender's Game
Farenheit 451
To Kill a Mockingbird (I think everyone should read this at least once)
Lord of the Flies
The Grapes of Wrath
Catch 22
The Great Gatsby (great book)
1984
Things Fall Apart (another great book.. I kept this one from my Ethics in Lit class)

I could go on and on. I would have listed A Clockwork Orange but it is REALLY heavy and I think a tad mature.

*Be smart.. Do your research!!*

I don't. People call me insane when I tell them that... but tell that to my friend, Jake. He can read books in 6th grade that are hard for highschoolers... O.O
