Years ago, when I was in college, my mom belonged to a weight loss group. They had a Christmas party and, of course, I couldn't be there. So my mom called me to tell me how ity went. She proceeded to tell me that this one woman opened up the gift that was given to her (they had a gift exchange) and was not happy with what she got. It was made of pieces of scrap yarn and was all different colors. She asked the woman who gave it to her what it was. The other woman replied "It's a dishrag. I made it myself. I hope you like it". My mom couldn't hardly tell the story she was laughing so hard, then I started laughing. My roommate was giving me funny looks. lol

That sucks. Scrappy (as we call them) items can be really cute.

Also, I think my heart would be broken if I put time into making someone something and they didn't like it.

Oh my, talk about an awkward situation. I would be laughing like crazy too if I heard that story, though. I have a feeling most of my early projects probably look like that poor dishrag, a UFO: unidentifiable funny object.

We were laughing at the woman's reaction to the dishrag, not making fun of the woman who made it. And we certainly didn't do it in front of them.

I wonder what the woman thought it was when she first opened the gift up.

*tries to touch yarn through screen* Looks so soft and I love the second yarn, too. What do you plan to make with them?
